I didn't realize when I bought this book that it was published in 2006. A large part of it is devoted to restaurants, bars and lodging. Many of the places listed are no longer there, have different names, hours and seasons when they are open --- prices have risen substantially. Seven years is a long time to not update a travel guide.I'm just back from 10 days in the BVIs and can definitively tell you that this "Best of" book is an unnecessary purchase. A better choice would be Moon Virgin Islands (Moon Handbooks) and Cruising Guide to the Virgin Islands. I have all of them.The Cruising Guide is more comprehensive than the Moon Guide and most valuable even if you are not on a boat. Most of the Virgin Islands areas of interest are waterside and the Cruising Guide is the better resource if you are going to buy just one book. I highly recommend getting the pair.
Excellent for the islands less visited. This is the only book that describes the least known British Islands.
Writing in for my son who received this book as a Christmas present. He went sailing recently and said this book was "great". A lot of good information, places to go and see.

This guide is written solely from the viewpoint of the land-based visitor. As such, it is of very limited use to me as I plan to sail among the islands on my own boat. Resorts on the main islands are covered to some extent but those on smaller outlying islands are generally not.

Contains good maps of each island and info on lodging with websites and prices, where to eat, good beaches, and what boat trips to hire. Ferry service info, with times, prices and phone numbers, is also very helpful to understand modes of transportation between the BVI.
