Do you know where you belong? I hadn’t thought to ask myself this question before reading this book because I was not prepared to be spiritually questioning myself while reading a fiction book. I should have known though as every Lynn Austin book I’ve read I’ve come away a little wiser and closer to my Savior.This book is about two sisters and essentially their life journey together. They primary focus is on the pivotal points in life that changed them and led them to new adventures.I received this book from Bethany House publishers to read and review it. I will honestly say that it is a great honor to be able to do this, however, I was a bit distracted by life when the book arrived. I was not initially into reading this book. I’ve read Lynn Austin’s books before and have greatly enjoyed them but again I was not in the reading mood as I was a bit overwhelmed by my own life. I was quickly pulled into the book. I was taken away from my life problems not to be temporarily distracted, but to be thoughtful about myself. I came away from reading this book inspired and changed.Again, I will ask, do you know where you belong? If you are looking for a book that you can enjoy and learn from this is a book to consider reading (as well as any of Lynn Austin’s books). Lynn has a way with words as well as a heart for God.
I'll begin by saying I'm a little biased. I have read all of Lynn Austin's books and have enjoyed all of them. So when I heard that she had another book coming out, I preordered it 6 whole months in advance and waited impatiently for it to arrive.This particular book appealed to me very much because of the vast amount of historical facts and locations throughout the book. Lynn uses great details to describe the action and pulls the reader into the scenes. Each of the characters in the book has a loveablely unique personality which endears them to the reader. As is often the case with Lynn Austin's books, I had a hard time putting this one down.
This is a story that has very strong characters and storyline with lots of fearless adventure. It has deep faith and devotion to God and desire for history and adventure and to deeply love and care for those less fortunate. An amazing story.
Well, I don’t miss a Lynn Austin book, and this one did not disappoint! My wife and I have read all 25 of her books and never found one we didn’t like. This one is based on a true story of two sisters who traveled the world and made a real difference. These two sisters had tremendous adventures and the reader is brought along with them. Lynn has an incredible ability to develop characters and make you feel like you know them - some you love and some not so much. Thank you, Lynn, for another wonderful story of faith and hope!
Ms Austin always brings me to places I don’t exactly expect to be. I didn’t think I would enjoy this book as much as I usually do, but I did. What fascinating characters. I saw a review that was critical in regards to her time flashes. I found that they helped me organize the characters in my mind as they grew and changed. If you are on the fence, do it, you won’t be disappointed.
Again, Lynn Austin has presented the Gospel in a way that is both intriguing and entertaining. The sisters face circumstances that would scare most men to death but have no fear themselves because of their faith in God and their love for others, even "the least of these."
The book reinforces the truth of life. Life is better when we listen to God's leading instead of us trying to lead it on our own.A book about my three favorite topics - God, Chicago, and history.It was a great read.
I love the historical threads she weaves into the lives of her characters, the truth of hope and redemption in disappointments, grief and loss, and in many of the places I have traveled to - a great escape novel with love and romance expressed in such a pure and honoring way as God intended!
