I’m sure it would have been great if I wasn’t sent an inappropriate adult coloring book instead. I’m so disappointed as this was supposed to be a gift for a 6 year old. Why even spend the money on Prime when mistakes like these are made.

I love new ways to encourage kids when it comes to art. This book seemed like a great idea and so we checked it out.This book is more of a cross between a coloring book and a doodle book. It has a nice balance of structured art in the beginning. The beginning of the book offers a more step-by-step guide children can copy and learn from.Toward the middle are opportunities for children to color in some art while leaving enough room for doodles. The balance is really nice and celver.The end of the book offers a diary. This part offers children blank pages with nice boarders. Based on the art that was learned or colored in the children have the freedom to create their own work.Overall I felt this book was very cute. In terms of art, it has a little bit of everything. My eleven year old granddaughter was thrilled with this book. She LOVES to draw, especially people (which are the hardest to draw!) This book is full of whimsical art for her to use as bounding off points for her own artwork. She is able to reproduce the cute pictures in the large white spaces the book provides for just that reason. Two thumbs way up!
My wife is visiting our 5-year-old granddaughter Lily in another state for the upcoming weekend, and I CANNOT WAIT for Lily to experience this book. Of course, I am biased as her grandfather, but I can definitely see God-given ability in Lily as an artist! She is patient and attentive to detail. She can effectively mimic drawings of people who are much older than she. This book gives plenty of pages for space for step-by-step doodling. The drawings will no doubt be motivating to Lily. Already a reader, she will also be inspired by the words of the book as well. Black pages mark-off the other pages to give color even more "pop." Double face-to-face pages allow for more imagination of expanding the "stories" in the provided settings and characters. These scenes will allow Lily to reach beyond her artwork to higher order thinking skills. Multiple blank pages at the back of the book will further allow Lily to "freewheel" with her artwork. I'm sure this book will be A BIG HIT with my granddaughter!
