I never liked paying a physical therapist $40 or more for a single visit and have been looking for a good reference similar to the Positional Release Therapy in order to treat myself, and this book does the job. It is clearly written and I have used a number of the releases repeatedly in the course of starting a yoga program in my late 50's. I have even gotten up in the middle of the night to use the techniques after a throbbing pain decides to manifest itself in a hip or knee. It is my go-to book, and for the rare occasions when it does not cover what I need I use either Clare Davies Trigger Point Therapy Workbook or the Kerry D'Ambrogio's Positional Release Therapy - I know they are all different techniques, but they complement each other and overlap. Each of these three costs less than a single PT visit and they all work.

About a year ago I broke my collarbone when my horse landed on me. Can you say, "Ouch"? Because I refused surgery (even though it was recommended in my case) I had to find alternative methods for healing. A friend recommended ortho-bionomy to me. Luckily, I had a great practitioner within a couple hours distance. He helped me tremendously with this method, and my collarbone (which was in 2 pieces that were inches apart) is now completely healed and I have full range of motion.But what if you don't have a practitioner near you? I have recommended this approach to several of my friends, but to no avail because there were not practitioners nearby. So I decided to check out this book. I have tried out mainly the self-care techniques for the areas that bother me the most--my low back, my shoulders (from my work, computer-based), and my knees. The techniques work quite well, and the book is clear, with many pictures and clear instructions.The only reason I give this book four stars is that I wish there was a deeper explanation of this method and why it works so well at the beginning of the book. Maybe I am biased because I have had someone work on my rather than relying on self-care, so I have learned a lot about this method. However, I notice that because there isn't as much info about WHY and HOW this approach works as my friends would like, they don't tend to stick to the practice. I hate that because this approach really works and the book offers so many good exercises. A deeper intro would really, in my opinion, make a difference in this book's effectiveness!

This self-care book is a must for every energy healer wanting to learn to self-heal with ease. Well written, heavily illustrated and contains plain and easy instructions for each area of the body. I love it and use it often for myself and my family. It's definitely a keeper in my library of self-care remedies!I recommend it highly for healers and anyone wanting release from pain and continuing well-being.

The techniques in this book are easy to do. The techniques will relieve your pain relatively effortlessly. The techniques will save you money on pain medication and doctor's visits. I would recommend every family having this book around as a reference. There is nothing like having the power to take your own pain away in the middle of the night.I originally got the book for back pain and it did wonders. One night I was in so much pain in my shoulder (probably repetitive stress from computer work) I could not sleep. I finally remembered this book. I went to the living room and got out the book and I easily used the table of contents to locate the shoulder releases. I ended up doing all the lower back releases, then did shoulder releases on the good shoulder (the way my massage therapist does) then did the shoulder releases on the bad shoulder. By the time I finished the releases on the bad shoulder the pain was completely gone. I had only spend about 20 to 30 minutes, I had taken no pain meds and I was learning the shoulder releases (all 8) from scratch. WOW! I was already a believer but WOW!Even better than having the releases is having very easy isometric excercises to increase strength and keep from having the pain to begin with.I can't stress enough how wonderful this book is.

This well illustrated book deals with distinct parts of the body with simple procedures designed to correct painful or awkward body movements. It is virtually pain free but very effective. My wife and I took a local class with the author and my wife used this method with her sister-in-law who was experiencing level 8 shoulder pain. After two treatments she reported continual improvement and was at level 2.5 the following day. After going home she continues to use this method and is very enthusiastic about it.

This makes releasing tight muscles and holding patterns very accessible to everyone. After trying several release point excercises, I realized that I am carrying far more tension than I could have imagined. The work on my feet alone has made this purchase well worth it.

A wonderful, thorough book, if a little intimidating for self-care - but I -have- consulted it a number of times to help determine where pains stem from

The book is an easy read and thorough. O-B works! If you have serious issues Google for the O-B association and find a practitioner. After years of stooping over due to scoliosis and nothing else working. 3 O-B treatments and Mom stands 10 years younger and much pain relief. I was shocked by the good results.
