I like the format of Moon Books and have many. This one has a good overview of things to do and places to see. There is more detail on the large cities, which is to be expected. Nevada has many canyons and off road exploring that are not detailed in this book . It is for basic travel and I buy updated versions when new editions become available. The introduction to the area details the climate, the topography and general information. At the back of the book are further reading lists . I am happy with this purchase.
I purchased this book along with a few others to help me acclimate to moving over 2500 miles from my home town. While searching for travel/information books about Nevada, I was hard pressed to find one which referred to areas and attractions around the entire state - most others were totally about only Las Vegas or only Reno. I found it frustrating since there's so much more to The Silver State than just gambling, but I was instantly relieved to find that Moon took the time to provide thorough information about EVERYWHERE in Nevada, including places as small and remote as Jarbidge and Elko.It has been quite helpful with increasing my knowledge of my new home, helping me plan road trips, and providing lots of "ah-ha" moments with so many little-known yet interesting facts about the area. If you're reading this, you've selected possibly the best, most thorough travel book out there on everything Nevada.Although prices and availability constantly changes, I found it particularly helpful that the cost of events and places to stay and the times of year attractions, hotels, ranches, etc. are open, especially since most of Nevada is not only overly-expensive, but very dependent on the severity (or lack thereof) of the weather as well. This guide also gives the impression that the author took a true interest in each place described throughout, thus making the reader feel as if plenty of enjoyment is to be had at every destination.Planning a trip to Nevada or moving there? Then this guide is surely something you need, both before your journey and when you arrive.
We were very impressed with the information in this book on our recent visit to the "longest road in America" (Nevada's Hwy 50). We stopped into restaurants recommended in Austin and Eureka, two very small towns, and were very pleasantly surprised with the wonderful lunches we enjoyed. Scott Smith did a great job on this book. Also, the hotel review helped us select where we stayed in Ely and were happy we used his recommendation.
I think this is the best book available for rural Nevada. I have several others and this one offers way more info. As far as the urban parts of Nevada... I have no clue as I never visit them.
I bought it for my trip across the US.Ok, I had my GPS, but we must always have a this type of book on us.It is very useful, because your can find a lot of information where ever you are in the state.
Got this as a gift for someone moving to Las Vegas. From what I read while I had it, makes me want to go travel Nevada!
