It is a great set - but you truly have to sit down and work at it. There is a workbook included and it is designed to teach you to read/write at the same time as teaching you how to speak. You are 100% going to have to put time in with it, but it will teach you the new language.
Fantastic books! As a Greek American these books were great as a refresher to my mother language. I did have a couple of years of Greek school under my belt so these books were easy for me to read and understand. These books are organized well and have the English translations with the Greek writing. For the people who wrote poor comments about this item must have never opened a Greek textbook. You should not expect to pick up an international language book and expect to understand it right away. It takes time my friends. Remember the saying "it's Greek to me"? Yes there's a reason why people say that. Greek is hard! YOU MUST know how to read and write a language before you speak it. Period! So do your homework and spend time on the basics of these books before you move on. That's the key. These books are amazing and I highly recommend them to anyone.
I found Greek a hard language to learn. That said, I learned enough to get by on my first trip to Greece. I have used Living Language to refresh or relearn other languages, and I recommend Living Language over other methods. The combination of vocabulary, dialogues, and repetition works for me. My practice is to listen to the CDs in my commute, and look over the lessons once in a while. With more time on the practice books that come with the CDs, I am sure my progress in learning Greek would have been faster. I used Living Language to learn Italian and to relearn French, on both occasions I was happy with the results.
I’m learning Greek. This has been so helpful! There’s so much in here and well worth the price. I love to listen to the cds in the car on the way to work! My other half corrects me. Though, it’s been minor pronunciations! When Iï¸ need To learn another language, Iï¸ will use this again.
I'm absolutely satisfied with the course. Since I'm just finishing the beginner level I can only assess this level and can say that it has met my expectations so far. The course is outlined in a very lucid and comprehensible manner. You can see you are making progress. I do also appreciate the audio CDs that help me learn while on the go. I've gone through two other courses on Greek but this one is by far the best.Wholeheartedly recommend it.
I got this to self teach myself and I find that the lessons are very helpful. The text is mostly focused around learning the grammar which is what I was looking for (as opposed to Rosetta Stone, which I also tried and did not find out helpful). I'd recommend this to people who prefer to learn grammar and sentence structure as opposed to someone who is only looking to learn some phrases/ basic sentences

I am very happy with this textbook. It's very easy to follow, especially combined with the 9 cds and the interactive application. The grammar is clear and the examples are also very helpful; I feel that I learn up to date Greek and things that people in Greece actually say nowadays.I LOVE the culture notes!! A great bonus :))
